Jeffrey DeSarbo, D.O.

Dr. Jeffrey DeSarbo, D.O. | Garden City NY

Dr. DeSarbo is a Board Certified Psychiatrist and is the Founder and Director of the ED-180 Treatment Programs here in Garden City. He is also the Director for the N.Y. Eating Disorder Medical Group and was formerly on the Board of the National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) of Long Island. Dr. DeSarbo's private practice includes treatment for adolescents and adults with about 70% of his caseload dedicated to the specialized treatment of eating disorders and the remaining 30% for general psychiatric conditions. Dr. DeSarbo also spent 3 months of elective time working closely with bariatric surgeons for specialized training in the psychiatric evaluation and management of bariatric patients. In addition to psychopharmacological management, Dr. DeSarbo also practices psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and existential therapy.

Dr. DeSarbo graduated from Hofstra University with a degree in banking and finance in 1985. Having wanted to become a doctor since high school, he returned 13 years later to Hofstra to complete a post-bac program for medical school. He attended medical school at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his psychiatric residency training in the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine Psychiatry Residency Program at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y. Dr. DeSarbo is a national speaker to medical professionals and clinicians and well as to the public and has been on radio and television. Dr. Jennifer McMonigle

Dr. Jennifer McMonigle is a board-certified Neurologist practicing in East Northport, which is Suffolk County on Long Island (New York). She provides compassionate care to patients, helping them successfully manage a range of neurological conditions such as concussion, migraine, multiple sclerosis, dementia, parkinson’s disease, carpal tunnel syndrome and many others. Raised in West Hempstead, New York, Dr. McMonigle completed her undergraduate education at SUNY Cortland. She then went on to attend the NYU Master’s in the biology program. Her medical education began at The New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduating from medical school in 2001 she interned in the internal medicine department at Nassau University Medical Center. Dr. McMonigle continued her training in Neurology at Stony Brook University Hospital, serving as the Chief Resident of the hospital’s neurology department. Following residency, Dr. McMonigle continued on to Stony Brook University to complete a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology. Judi LiVigni, MS, RD, CDN

Judi LiVigni, MS, RD, CDN | Garden City NY

Judi is a registered dietician specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. She has been a registered dietitian since 1994 and has worked clinically in a hospital setting as well as various outpatient settings, including consulting for the New York Eating Disorder Medical Group and Eating Disorder Associates. Her treatment approach is to collaborate with the treatment team and utilize a meal rehabilitation program that best suits the client’s needs from intuitive eating to meal exchange systems. Judi is a graduate of the University of Maryland and completed her master’s work at Long Island University, C.W. Post campus. There, she graduated with distinction receiving an academic award for her thesis work related to disordered eating. Judi is a member of the American Dietetic Association, obtaining advanced certifications in both adult and child/adolescent weight management. She is also a member of the National Eating Disorder Association, the Academy of Eating Disorders, and the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals.

Gina Marando, MS, LMHC, NCC

Gina Marando, MS, LMHC, NCC | Garden City NY

Gina is a licensed clinical mental health counselor and holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from Fordham University and a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University. She specializes in fertility counseling, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, athlete mental health and life transitions. Gina’s prior clinical experience in the field of eating disorders includes working as an individual, group and family therapist at ED-180, Long Island’s first physician-owned and operated intensive outpatient program. Gina also has a special interest in the mental health treatment of first-generation Americans. She is dedicated to always evolving her knowledge base in the field through continuing education and certifications. Gina holds post graduate certifications in the Fundamentals of Cognitive Behavioral Treatment; and Nutrition and Integrative Medicine for Mental Health Clinicians, both from Adelphi University. Cara-Mier Capone, LCSW

Cara-Mier Capone, LCSW | Garden City NY

Cara-Mier received her master’s degree in social work from Fordham University, followed by post- graduate training at The Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in New York City. Cara-Mier began her career working in a hospital setting, both in substance abuse detox and inpatient psychiatry. She later pursued her interest in eating disorder treatment, working at both The Renfrew Center of Long Island and New York City. Cara-Mier received her certification in EMDR to expand her specialty to include treatment for trauma. She has also received her certification in Internal Family Systems therapy, an approach that has expanded her skill set and fostered her growth as a clinician. Cara-Mier has presented at several educational forums, sharing her knowledge of eating disorders at schools, hospitals, and other mental health facilities. She has co-led week-long intensive training for therapists in both California and New York and is a member of NASW, AED, IADEP, and NEDA. Cara-Mier is the Clinical Director at ED-180, providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy as well as overseeing other therapists involved with the ED-180 Programs. Lukas DeSarbo, LMSW

Lukas DeSarbo, LMSW | Garden City NY

Lukas DeSarbo has been a part of the ED-180 Programs since 2012 working as a biofeedback technician who was trained by Biosound Technologies (Safety Harbor, FL) in the operations of the biofeedback software and technology. Since that time, Lukas has received his NYS license in social work after graduating from the Stony Brook School of Social Work and has since been working as a full-time therapist specializing in CBT and the treatment of eating disorders, as well as, general psychological conditions including depression and mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, and behavioral issues. Although Lukas treats clients of all ages, he is especially experienced in working with adolescents, teenagers, and young adults. In addition to working at ED-180, Lukas has experienced working at Monte Nido Glen Cove and participating in the operations of the Long Island Conference on Eating Disorders. Lukas also incorporates bio/neurofeedback and mindfulness teachings into his therapeutic approach in the office setting. He is also trained to supervise therapeutic meals and group sessions with eating disorder clients and plays an active role in the development and implementation of customized programs with Dr. Jeffrey DeSarbo.

Geanine Berk is a New York State licensed Clinical Social Worker, who received her Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University in 1999. She has over 20 years of experience providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for adults and teens, individuals, couples, and families. Saaba Rais, Office Administrator

Saaba Rais is the Office Administrator and has been working with Dr. Rahmani since August 2022. She manages all insurance and billing issues as well as appointments, scheduling and all other administrative duties. She received her Bachelor Degree in Psychology at New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury and has experience in the management health care industry for about ten years.
